In a similar way to Empress and Sovereign, Monarch has spent some time as part of Royal Caribbean International’s fleet and was previously named Monarch of the Seas. She is the nautical sister of Sovereign and therefore bares many similarities in terms of layout and appearance.
At the time she was launched, in 1991, Monarch was one of the largest ships in the world. And with a capacity of 2,733 she still cuts a commanding figure. Having only been with Pullmantur since 2013 she is the latest addition to our fleet and received a recent renovation to put her in line with the rest of our ships. This follows a multi-million pound refit in 2003 which included the addition of her ice cream parlour, climbing wall and conference centre along with the expansion of other public areas.
Monarch holds her place in history for being the first ever major cruise ship to have a women captain at the helm. Swedish born Karin Stahre Janson took charge in 2007 but has since been joined by a host of other female captains for other operators.
With two main restaurants and numerous other alternative dining areas, there is plenty of choice when it comes to mealtimes. Monarch also offers some excellent facilities to help you relax. Whether you like the fast-paced nature of the basketball court and gym or you prefer the serene environment of the spa and poolside; rest, recuperation and relief will all be second nature during your Monarch cruise.
Monarch spends her time sailing the Caribbean Sea and so can be found in one of the world’s most popular cruising destinations all year round.
All-inclusive Means All-inclusive
Many operators claim that their cruises are all inclusive, but once you get on board there are various extra charges that they neglected to mention. With a Pullmantur cruise, when you pay for all-inclusive that’s exactly what you will get. That means that all of your taxes, port charges, meals in our main and buffet restaurants and drinks (alcoholic and soft) are all part of the price you originally pay. There’s even the option to upgrade this further so that your package includes many premium brands of alcohol and a further range of exciting cocktails.
Classic Charm Combined With Modern Convenience
Monarch may be almost 25 years old but she can still offer everything you would expect from a modern ship. Her classic seafaring charm is there for everyone to see and recent upgrades have means that she has plenty of appeal for the 21st century cruiser. There are a range of mod-cons in each cabin whilst Monarch’s public spaces are stylishly appointed and very welcoming.
When night falls during your Monarch cruise there is plenty to ensure that the day isn’t over just yet. From the polished performances in our Broadway Lounge to the gentle tinkling of the ivories in the Fragata Bar and the live music in the Rendezvous Lounge; you can pass your evening a variety of different ways. There’s also the Cyan Nightclub which will still be playing a host of hits and providing somewhere to jig, jive and jump into the small hours of the morning.
