Beaches of Brazil
Whilst the summer months offer the delights of the Mediterranean, the cold and harsh winter months may leave you seeking an alternative. Pullmantur can provide the perfect winter beach option with a variety of cruise itineraries that can take you along the coast of Brazil.
Whether you want to lounge on the world famous Copacabana beach, or visit quieter destinations such as Buzios – you’ll be able to do it all on a South America cruise with Pullmantur. This week, we take a closer look at the beach destinations you can visit on board a Pullmantur cruise this winter.
Rio de Janeiro
The second largest city in Brazil is famous for its carnival atmosphere, laidback culture and relaxing beaches. There are many beaches here, either located within a bay or with direct access to the Atlantic Ocean. Copacabana is unquestionably the most famous, but there are many more beaches to visit and experience – each offering pure white sands and turquoise waters.
All of this relaxing on the beach will take place under the watchful eyes of Christ the Redeemer. In the past, you would have to climb hundreds of steps to reach this iconic statue, but luckily, in more recent years, the Cristo Redentor has been made more accessible thanks to the addition of elevators and escalators. Another venue you have to visit whilst here is the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Reachable by cable-car, the view from the top of the mountain at sunset will leave you totally breathless.
Santos is home to one of the South America’s largest and most important ports. It stretches over nine miles and caters for both cargo and cruise tourism. Whilst this city holds strong financial status, it also offers an enriching experience for all visitors. Aside from the beaches, one of the first things you may notice is the beach front garden. This is the longest beach front garden in the world – stretching 5,335 metres long and full of lush green grass and a variety of flora.
If you’re looking for an alternative to the beach and want to explore rich culture and history of Brazil, you can learn about the history of coffee at the Coffee Stock Exchange. This museum will provide insight into the types of machinery used to harvest coffee, as well as a number of different varieties.
Many people seeking Brazilian beaches on their travels in the 1900’s were left disappointed upon arrival into Rio de Janeiro due to it being too busy. As a result, many travellers opted to go to Buzios instead for a spot of peace and quiet. In 1964, however, French actress Bridget Bardot brought an increased popularity to the area after trying to find respite from the pursuing paparazzi. Today, you can find a statue of the actress in the town.
Buzios is home to many spectacular beaches and you will find no shortage of locations to relax and unwind in Buzios. Many of the beaches also feature bars, so you can grab a cocktail and relax as the sun goes down.
Whichever beaches you visit during your cruise along the coastline of Brazil, a Pullmantur cruise provides the very best value. An extensive range of itineraries can take you to a number of exciting destinations and the all-inclusive nature on board means you don't have to worry about a thing on your holiday.Tweet
