Escape to the Caribbean this summer
Throughout the summer of 2017, Pullmantur’s Horizon, Monarch and Sovereign will operate cruises within Europe – taking passengers to regions including the Norwegian fjords, Baltic nations and the Mediterranean. These itineraries offer a unique glimpse into the scenic delights, charming towns and historical relics of the continent within a short period of time.
In addition to these itineraries, Pullmantur’s Zenith will also operate a range of roundtrip itineraries throughout the summer - taking passengers to the islands of the southern Caribbean. Imagine waking up to a different beach every morning, wandering through charming colonial old towns and witnessing magnificent man-made wonders. The Antilles and South Caribbean Cruise offers a unique glimpse into all of this and much more.
Willemstad, Curacao, Netherlands Antilles
One thing to appreciate about the Curacao capital of Willemstad is that it enjoys year-round average temperatures that rarely drop below 25C. This, of course, can be fully appreciated on one of the many spectacular beaches, but there is something very different about this island. Dutch-inspired brightly-coloured buildings fill the city centre, which has gained UNESCO World Heritage status in recent years. All of this can be received with a heightened level of enjoyment after trying the famed Blue Curacao liquor.
Kralendijk, Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles
Sticking with Dutch-inspired islands of the Caribbean, the island also offers many brightly-coloured buildings and charming beaches. It is, however, particularly renowned for its range of wildlife and diving/snorkelling opportunities. The waters that surround the island are filled with exotic and colourful marine life – making for an unforgettable visit. Throughout Bonaire, you may also be lucky enough to see wild iguanas and pink flamingos.
Aruba is the third of the Dutch ABC islands, which is home to another beautiful Dutch-inspired city known as Oranjestad. Soak up the tropical climate of the Caribbean on one of the many beaches or by partaking in one of the many water activities such as snorkelling or parasailing. Alternatively, you can admire the nature of the island by exploring sights such as the Butterfly Farm and the Ayo Rock Formations.
One of the greatest aspects of visiting the Panama port of Colon is being able to admire the magnificent man-made wonder that is the Panama Canal. Connecting the Atlantic with the Pacific, this newly constructed route saved the hassle of having to navigate around the treacherous Cape Horn. Alternatively, you can use Colon as a base to head to the bustling metropolis of Panama City – which is highly renowned for its huge shopping malls.
The charming Spanish colonial-style town of Cartagena in Colombia is confined within city walls, but offers a plethora of colourful architecture. You can explore many of the town’s historical buildings including the fortresses and the many churches; or you can embark on a journey outside of the city to beautiful beaches and exotic coral reefs.
Whether you are sailing in the Caribbean, Mediterranean or Northern Europe – the all-inclusive on board atmosphere is available on all itineraries and across the entire fleet.
